Our
Technology / How it works
Sankofa
wireless technology connects you to the Internet using
a wireless modem in your home/office or outside your home/office.
The wireless modem connects to a Sankofa gateway located
in your neighborhood, which relays your signals to our
NOC (Network operating center) which will then connect
you to the Internet.
Service
Installation
To
install Sankofa service, you will receive a wireless modem
once you place an order with us and paid for in full.
The modem will be connected to your computer with an Ethernet
cable, so your computer needs to have an Ethernet jack
or Network Interface card already installed. There are
two types of service installation, which vary depending
on the location of your house or business with respect
to our nearest gateway. To see which type of installation
your home or business qualifies for, please contact us
and we will perform a site survey at your location.
Professional
Installation
One
of our professional installation technicians will come
to your house or business and mount a small antenna/modem
outside on a roof, chimney, eaves, or balcony and run
a cable from the antenna/modem outside of your house or
business to the network card on your computer. This installation
will require approximately 1-2 hours and will only be
provided if your house or business is too far away from
a gateway to receive a good signal.
